🇩🇪 Die Ura e Mesit (Brücke von Mes) ist eine ottomanische Bogenbrücke vermutlich im 18. Jahrhundert vom Shkodraner Pascha Mehmed Bushati erbaut.
Die Brücke war Teil einer Handelsroute, die von Shkodra entlang des südlichen Rands der Albanischen Alpen nach Kosovo führte – ein Weg, den schon die Römer benutzten und der noch bis 1944 mit Maultieren begangen wurde. Sie verband zudem Shkodra mit dem jenseits des Flusses auf einem Hügel gelegenen mittelalterlichen Städtchen Drivastum (albanisch Drisht).
Aufgrund ihrer Länge gilt sie als bedeutendste und am besten erhaltene ottomanisch Brücke in Albanien. Sie ist 108 Meter lang und besteht aus 15 Bögen. Ihre Breite beträgt 3,4 Meter. Der mittlere Bogen ist bis zu 18 Meter hoch.
🇬🇧 The Ura e Mesit (Bridge of Mes) is an Ottoman arch bridge probably built in the 18th century by the Shkodran Pasha Mehmed Bushati.
The bridge was part of a trade route that led from Shkodra along the southern edge of the Albanian Alps to Kosovo - a route that was already used by the Romans and was still used by mules until 1944. It also connected Shkodra with the medieval town of Drivastum (Drisht in Albanian) on the other side of the river.
Due to its length, it is considered the most important and best-preserved ottoman bridge in Albania. It is 108 meters long and consists of 15 arches. Its width is 3.4 meters. The middle arch is up to 18 meters high.
